Valley Crest Landscape

Horrendous arborists. Valley Crest – without our consent/approval/input – removed our 25-40 year old trees when the Space Shuttle came through in 2012. They were supposed to replace 2 trees for every one tree removed within a year. After no follow-up on their behalf and many phone calls, they finally replaced them with some jacaranda twigs 15 months later. And they aren't even maintaining those. Monique at the Science center told me on Monday that an arborist would be sent out to see about my “sick/dead/dying” tree. It's Friday and not a soul has come out and both Valley Crest and the Science Center do not answer their phones. A poor way to do business under any circumstances. The City of Los Angeles, the Science Center, and Valley Crest came into the community and destroyed what took years to build then they are now all shirking responsibility.

My HOA hired Valley Crest to maintain the landscaping a few years ago. Under their care, the grass areas have gradually deteriorated, become thinner and sprouted some weeds. With leaves and debris, they blow it into a corner and then leave it there; I've given up and now just clean up the corners myself. The HOA hired them to install grass and, after 9 months of nagging, they finally did an acceptable job. When they mow the grass, they damage areas by accidentally cutting into the grass roots and dirt. I will admit that they do some work, even do it well, and they sometimes clean up after themselves. I still feel that their performance is below average; they seem disorganized, mismanaged and poorly supervised so they just don't have the capability to get the job competently done in a consistent way.

These are not aborists, they are butchers. We hired them to trim about 400 trees. First they started at the peak of nesting season. Next they took really nice 15-20' trees and hacked them down to 2' sticks that looks really bad and died after a few months. They damaged surrounding landscape material. They blew debris into people's backyards to avoid having to haul it back and left piles of debris in places until I complained and they came back to clean it. They were low bid and the in this case, we got more than we bargained for. The question now is do we pay them, do we sue for damages. If it was all up to me, both.

Brickman Group and ValleyCrest Landscape Cos. unveiled their new name as BrightView. The companies, located in Rockville, Md., and Calabasa, Calif., respectively, merged in June to form a $2 billion firm with 22,000 employees. The new name and logo will not be used in operations until mid- 2015 in line with the company’s implementation plan. In the interim, both Brickman and ValleyCrest brands will continue to be used in the marketplace and customers’ properties will be served by their local teams. The name BrightView suggests the bright views or beautiful landscapes, according to the companies. Additionally, it speaks to the bright view the organization will offer its team members in the form of opportunity and career advancement. Although a forward-looking name, BrightView also honors the organization’s legacy brands, founders and people, according to the firms. This is accomplished by carrying forward the “B” from Brickman and the “V” from ValleyCrest. “BrightView is more than a name; it indicates what is to come,” BrightView CEO Andrew Kerin said. “BrightView reflects our optimism for the future and our drive to create greater value for our clients. It embodies our excitement to leverage the strengths of our combined company to enhance how we care for our people, our clients and our communities. It also enables our team members and clients to take pride in trusted relationships and solutions that matter.” Brickman and ValleyCrest partnered with branding firm Lippincott to develop the brand strategy and visual expression of the united company.
