Landscape Design Whether you are pursuing the entire course series to earn a Certificate of Merit, or just interested in beautifying your property, landscape design courses are available to everyone. Previous knowledge of plant material is strongly recommended and is required for some courses. To earn the Certificate of Merit in Landscape Design, the student must satisfactorily complete the core courses, receiving a minimum grade of 70% in each course. Core course grades will be based on assignments, class projects, and participation. Elective courses will be graded on a pass/non-pass basis. Landscape Design Classes

In Macomb’s Landscape Design Program, you will be introduced to garden design styles and characteristics, plant composition, grading and drainage considerations, garden installation processes and sustainable landscape design criteria. You will learn how to draft and present a landscape design, identify potential problems at a site, incorporate walkways, create micro-climates and use existing environmental conditions to create purposeful and sustainable landscapes. The Program leads to both a Basic Landscape Design Certificate (six classes) and an Advanced Landscape Design Certificate (four additional classes). An Environmental Horticulture Certificate (seven classes) is also available.
